Submission Submits?

Rumours are circulating that Submission has been been sold following the park’s decision to put it up for sale and the ride will be removed at the end of this season.

There are also rumours that the park intend to sell Enterprise in a few seasons time - thus making room for a new development in X-Sector following years of neglect in terms of additions and changes.

And finally there also rumours that Bouncing Bugs and The Beastie will also be vacating Alton Towers this season as the management look towards shuffling the pack and replacing tired rides at the park. Ug Swinger is also set to move to the new children’s area replacing Cred Street in 2009.

So as you can see 2009 closed season looks set to be a busy one. My only concern is that perhaps there a few too many rides leaving all at once?

I must say I’m surprised at Submisson’s apparent removal. Surely the park could have hung onto it for another season just to boost the ride selection whilst a replacement was identified and installed the following season? But hey, let’s not forget that these are just rumours.

Whilst I’m certainly not disappointed that the ride is leaving, afterall I’ve never even gave it a courtesy ride as I just know how bad it will be, it leaves the park a bit short on attractions compared to normal and the sudden loss in overall park capacity will have knock-on effects elsewhere.

Would you be glad or sad to see Submission leave the park? Please leave your comments.

SEA LIFE for Mutiny Bay?

Rumours are circulating Towers Times Forum that 2009 will see a SEA LIFE attraction arrive in Mutiny Bay at Alton Towers.

Not much is known at the moment but it has come from a reliable source and the idea of such attraction isn’t farfetched at all if we look at the facts. Earlier this year Chessington World of Adventures opened their very own SEA LIFE attraction - a park that is owned by Alton Towers’ parent company, Merlin Entertainments! Not forgetting to mention that the company SEA LIFE is also owned Merlin Entertainments!

Where in Mutiny Bay this attraction will go remains to be seen but the likelihood is that it will go in the space/tent left behind by the 3D Cinema which closed in 2004.

There are also rumours circulating that suggest the final monorail train re-theme will reflect next year’s new attraction by having an aquarium as the featured design.

I can see the logic behind this move and I fully support it! What better way to strengthen your resort offering and family attractions than introducing a nationally recognised and popular family attraction? If the park manage to get the theming right both inside and out, it could look fantastic. My only concern is that I’m not sure if Alton Towers should really brand it as part of SEA LIFE or simply as an aquarium connected to Mutiny Bay. Having SEA LIFE logos splattered around the area will only deter from Mutiny Bay’s theme and come across as SEA LIFE and not something from Alton Towers.

So what do you think about this possible new attraction? Please leave your comments.

Pirates Mutiny Over Pay

For those of you who don’t know, the Pirates of Mutiny Bay show has recently been unavailable at Alton Towers Resort for reasons unknown.

However, information is reaching Alton Towers Blog that states the reason behind the show’s disappearance is due to the actors going on strike over poor behind-the-scene conditions and a poor rate of pay.

Please note that this isn’t confirmed by the park but there doesn’t seem to be any other explanation for the absence of the show. It will come as a big blow to Alton Towers considering that August is the park’s busiest period and being one show down isn’t convienent and nor will guests be best pleased - especially when Pirates of Mutiny Bay is a new for 2008 attraction and has received positive reviews.
